I dreamed I was carrying a quilt in a box into a dull office space, croweded with shallow-minded, busy workers. As I was about to set the boxed quilt down, four black birds flew out of the box, and I was upset, for I realized they were meant to be on the four corners. I was shocked that they were alive. I worried that once they flew out of the box, they would no longer keep their place on the four corners of the quilt.
I am a writer, trying to get my first book ready for publication. Some of my research becomes very involved to the point that it opens up more and more and more doors, until I feel I have forgotten where I started, or I revise my original vision.
Could this dream refer to the publication process? The quilt could represent the book. Why were the black birds alive? I wanted to put them down in the quilt, for posterity and guidance.
